High Speed Cameras

Cameras are rapidly becoming more and more advanced. Looking online I found a sight that showed pictures that were captured at extremely high speeds from just a normal camera. These pictures were of a humming bird flying and with perfect clarity you could see the birds wings when normally they would be extremely blurry. There are also pictures of water bursting out of a balloon and every drop can be seen clearly. All of these shots are coming from a digital camera and I think it is amazing at how crisp pictures have become now. It is going to be amazing when feature films are being shot from phones and small hand held digital cameras.

Flash With Apple

Apple announced about a month ago that they would allow flash apps to be created. When i first heard this I was extremely excited. One of the huge negatives of Apples mobile devices like the iPhone, iPad, and iPod is that they cannot see flash files because they do not have a flash player. I thought that this announcement that things were going to change but it is only a small step in the right direction. This new update is just allowing application to be created with the flash tools but flash files still cannot be viewed on the Apple devices. It was quite a let down.

CRM Systems

I thought that this topic in class was particularly interesting because everyday at work we use it. One of our main goals is to have a customer who is a promoter of our company and not a detractor. After every purchase a customer makes from our store we email them a survey to fill out to and the most important question is would you recommend us to friends and family. This is so important because it is basically free advertising. Apple does such a good job of creating customers who are obsessed with there products that they get others excited and create more business. It is a very smart technology for Apple to take advantage of.

Information Systems

The Final test for information systems was today. It was a crazy test to study for with so much information to try and remember. Overall the test was not unfair and most of the information that seemed impossible to remember was not a huge portion of the test which was a huge relief. Hopefully I am able to retain most of the information and I know the Excel assignments will benefit me tremendously in the future.

Kindle Vs IPad

The newer IPad has really taken away from kindles success. The kindle was the number one sold item last year for Christmas but now with competition from the IPad sales have started to decline. To combat this decline the Kindle came after the IPad pointing out its weaknesses such as the glare the screen creates. The IPad is much more expensive than the kindle but it has many more applications and functions that it can preform that the Kindle can not. I think that the Kindle is the superior Ereader but the IPad is a better overall buy if you are looking to do more than read.

Jpeg Alternative For Faster Web

Google is now offering a way to send pictures much fast than in Jpeg format. They have been working on a new format so that they can be stored much easier and there new format is called WebP. WebP is supposed to cut back on the file size by 40% which if you are talking about five hundred gigabytes of pictures could be very helpful. It does however slightly alter the image making it slightly dimmer than the original picture. It will be very helpful though to companies and web sights that have many pictures on them because it will allow there pages to uploaded much faster if there pictures are in the smaller format. I think that this is great for the internet because i hate long download times when surfing the web.

Solar Panels Are Scheduled to Be Installed In Washington

The white house is going green and trying to save energy. They plan to install these panels by next spring. There will be two installations of these panels. One set of the panels will convert the suns energy to electricity and the other set will convert the suns energy into heat for water heating. I am not sure how affective this will be in Washington seeing as how at sometimes of the year they might not get a lot of sun. I think that it is a good idea however because it shows that they are putting forth an effort to create alternative forms of energy. Hopefully it is not just a big waste of money because it very well could be.

Zero Day Tracker

EEye Digital Securities launched a web sight today that will give you instant software fixes. Many software programs today have weekly or monthly updates and these kinds of updates happen at a certain date at a specific time. So what this zero day tracker does is if there is a problem with software and it needs to be fixed sooner rather than later, it will find the update and allow you to download it then and there to fix the problem rather than wait a few weeks for the update. I think that this was a great idea because it will reduce frustration and create a more satisfied user experience for software.

Smart Phones

With all the new smart phones coming out before Christams Nokia decieded to launch a whole line of smart phones for the holiday season. Nokia created three new smart phones. The first is for the business user and has applications for excel and other Microsoft software while the other two are mostly for social networking. The most expensive is the business phone which makes sense seeing as how business men and women have more money to spend. I think that this was smart marketing because it will allow Nokia to enter in to the droid and iphone market because it targets more direct segments and is more affordable that other smart phones.

Enegeneers Forsee Big Changes for Electric Grid

IEEE stands for The Institute of Electrical and Electrical Engineers. They have been doing research now for years trying to fix our country's energy problems. With the new grids they are designing they think that there will be a significant increase in efficiency and power generation. So in future they believe that small nuclear power plants will be the best source of energy and that this grid will be able to use the energy from these nuclear power plants to control large flows of energy easily. With all the developments in green energy in the past ten years this new grid seems like it will be a good way to allow us to prolong that research. If we are able to create energy with little waste byproduct then there will not be a huge rush for a completely renewable source of energy right now. So overall I think this is a great idea and hope that it works as well as it is supposed to.

Illegal Download Fees

Jammie Thomas Rasset has been from court to court for the last four years. She was being sued for illegally downloading 24 songs. After many years of appeals she was finally given the total fine of $62,500 for her illegal downlaods. The reason the fine was so hefty was because not only did she download the songs but she also shared those songs with others to download. I think that this penlty was alittle to high but i understand why they would do it to defer others from trying the same thing.

Senate Panel Approves Domain Name Seizure Bill

The senate just recently past a bill battling copyright infringement. This new bill put alot of pressure on domain name registries because now major corporations can sue if they think that a websight is in someway refelcting there image. This is holding websights liable for what content they put up as well if they put up a song that can be downloaded illegally then that sight will be held responisble. I think that this is a very good thing because now it will be easier track illegal music.

Intro

Hi,

I created this blog for my Information Systems class. Just some background on me; I moved to Southern California when i was four and have lived here ever since. I am studying business administration at Chapman University and also play defensive line on there football team. I have been working at apple for four months as a salesman. This class seems like its going to be enjoyable and I have high expectations for how this semester is going turnout.
